Concord, NC -- It has been months since Alex Faust got his last league win, and getting back to victory lane was done in thrilling fashon at the Lowe's Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Faust led 31 of the 80 laps in the race, even after brushing the wall a few times. Brian Schoenburg finished within a second to finish runner up, with Frankie Stickley third and Tom Czerwinski fourth. Dan Thomas bounced back from an earlier spin to finish fifth.
The race had a rocky start, with three cautions in the first 20 laps. Clayton Stokes, Tina Czerwinski and Curtis Grooms were all victims of early wrecks and wound up with damaged cars near the end. Former GRX driver Drew Glover came out of retirement to race, eventually finishing a lap down in his self-owned car.
With less than 10 laps to go, Brian Schoenburg led the field, but Alex Faust made a charge to the inside. For three consecutive laps the two ran side by side, neither giving an inch. Finally Faust took back the lead, almost clipping Schoenburg off of turn two. Faust was able to lead the remainding laps, despite a hard charging Schoenburg at the end. The winning margin was a quarter of a second. The top five in points goes unchanged with Frankie Stickley atop the leaderboard after tonight's race.
