New York, NY -- After weeks of speculation and a complete collapse of authority at Indianapolis on Saturday, AOSCA has decided to fold. After over 25 drivers entered three events, two not completed, the series came to a close Saturday as director Brian Webb announced that it would fold into ISCAR.
Originally, administrators including Alex Faust denied the claim that they would move, but it will become official Monday, as the AOSCA National Cup Series will be no more and will become the ISCAR ARCA Series. As for drivers in AOSCA, eight of them have already been selected to participate in ISCAR's elite DarkStar Communications Cup Series. Noticeably absent from that list was 2004 ASRA Dash Series champion Alex Faust. His absense prompted Frankie Stickley, on the list, to say this: "I was surprised he wasn't on the list, and I'm not gonna run because of that."
As for the new ISCAR sanctioning body, Dan Lyon is ambitios about bringing realism to his newly founded league. In a message he wrote on the ISCAR message board, he touts realism down to buying food and race uniforms, a radio station, a bunch of sponsors and actual prizes. In June, ARSA's leaders merged into ISCAR, hoping to create a strong base for a league. Now with the addition of AOSCA staff, the league is broadening its vision for six successful series running.
